Notes:
I agreed to make a blanket for a silent auction benefiting Camp Border Collie for Kids at Glen Highland Farm.
So, I went looking for inspiration. And I figured the best place to start would be the Glen Highland Farm website.
Lot of photos there. Beautiful dogs, mostly black and white. Fields, trees, sky, water. A start. I would have loved to have made a
representational image, but I'd never done tapestry crochet, and was pretty sure I'd end up with something that looked more like a cow. And I didn't have infinite amounts of time for it. Granny squares to the rescue again!
I then went looking for yarn, and found Lion Brand Homespun in a black and white mix. Perfect. I'd never used Homespun before, but hey, why not? It was acrylic, which was my main concern. (I wanted something that was easy care. I don't know if this blanket will go into a pet home or not, but I wanted to make something that could be tossed into the washer.)
I looked around a bit more, and found blue, green and beige. And that completed the set. Blue for sky and water, green for leaves and grass, and beige for earth and tree bark. I may not be able to crochet a picutre of a dog running around on the farm, but that inspiration will do quite nicely for a blanket!
