Notes:
Well, once I realized that I could give blankets away, things changed a bit.

I could play with colors and yarn to my heart's content!

In the interests of maximizing play time and minimizing work time, I decided to experiment with larger squares.

This taught me two things:
1. I don't have the increases for the squares quite right for larger sizes. The center squares are fine, but the outer squares have a distinctly ruffled look. (Actually, I like it, but that's beside the point.)
2. Differences in yarn thickness are much more noticeable when the squares are larger. In this blanket, the green squares are larger than the periwinkle and lavender squares. This affected the final pattern layout, since I wanted to distribute the green squares as evenly as possible. (Yes, I could have used a smaller hook and matched things more exactly. But that would have had me at a 4.5 mm hook at the largest, and that didn't sound like fun, given that the yarn was already thicker than normal. I could also done the last round as sc or hdc. But I didn't think of that in time.)

I was able to do a double row of edging easily for this one, since there were many fewer joining seams.
